Chennai: As many as 2,532 persons tested positive for coronavirus and 53 Covid-19 patients breathed their last in Tamil Nadu over the past 24 hours, the State Health Department said on Sunday.
In a statement issued here, it said that the new cases have taken the total tally to 59,377, while the death toll has risen to 757.
On the other hand, a total of 1,438 Covid-19 patients got cured and were discharged from various hospitals. The total number of cured patients in the state as on Sunday stands at 32,754.
Factoring the Covid-19 cured and the number of persons who died due to the virus, the total number of active cases in Tamil Nadu stands at 25,863.
The number of infected children in the state in the age group 0-12 went up to 2,934.
The state capital Chennai continued to head the Covid-19 infection table with 1,493 persons testing positive for the virus and its total tally at 51,172.
