Malegaon/Nashik: A 44-year-old man was advised by the health officials in Malegaon to remain isolated and self-quarantined at home after he returned from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) where a number of Novel Coronavirus cases have been reported.
"We were a total of 04 who returned to Malegaon from the UAE on Wednesday. The local health officials contacted me today - first on phone and then in person, and asked me to remain isolated at home at least for 14 days", he told ummid.com on phone.
He said the health officials asked him a number of health related questions and also said his blood samples will be taken for further check-up if necessary.
According to the health officials, 14-day isolation is suggested because Coronavirus symptoms may not appear for 14 days.
Among the four, three are friends who were in the UAE on business tour while one is working in Dubai and came to Malegaon on leave. The health officials however advised self-isolation and self-quarantine only to one of them.
The 44-year-old who has been advised self-isolation said contrary to the general perception and what is being reported, streets and malls in the UAE witness regular crowd. Routine rush can also be seen in public transport system.
"But, when we went to Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi Friday March 06, it was closed and opened only few minutes before the scheduled time of the afternoon prayers", he said.
He also said that unlike the routine, the Friday Sermon and Prayers were finished in less than 15 minutes.
Number of people tested Coronavirus positive in the UAE is increasing with rapid pace. As on Thursday, The total number of positive cases in the UAE reached 85.
Local medical officers meanwhile refuted the reports that one Coronavirus suspect has been admitted to Malegaon General Hospital.
"All these reports are baseless. Like the people who returned from the UAE, we also advised others who had returned from China in the last week to take extra caution. They were also told to contact the health officials in case of slightest abnormality or health related issue", a medical officer said.
On Saturday, two people were admitted in the Nashik Civil Hospital for suspected exposure to Novel Coronavirus, news agency PTI said citing health officials.
One of them is a 41-year-old man from here who had gone to Bangladesh on March 8 and returned to India on March 13, while the other was a 33-year-old man who had visited South Africa between January 9 and March 13, they said.
"With this, the number of people admitted for suspected exposure to the virus stands at four. Six people, whose samples tested negative, have been discharged," an official said.
A total of 22 confirmed cases of Novel Coronavirus have been reported from different parts of Maharashtra. Besides, India has reported 02 deaths because of the deadly disease. More than 5000 people have been killed worldwide due to the virus detected first in China and named COVID-19 by the WHO.
