Scindia Resigns

New Delhi: After immense speculations over his divorce with the Congress party, Jyotiraditya Scindia has finally resigned from the primary membership of the party and sent his resignation letter to interim Congress president Sonia Gandhi.

Scindia has long been unhappy with the central and state leadership of the Congress. Virtually sidelined in the party, Scindia had also accused Kamal Nath and Digvijaya Singh having played roles to defeat him in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.

What's interesting however is that the resignation is dated March 9, suggesting the decision was taken a day earlier.

Scindia posted his resignation letter on Twitter.

"Having been a primary member of the Congress Party for the last 18 years, it is now time for me to move on. I am tendering my resignation from the primary membership of the Indian National Congress and as you well know, this is a path that has been drawing itself out over the last year", he said in the parting letter.

"While my aim and purpose remain the same as it has always been from the very beginning, to serve the people of my state and country, I believe I am unable to do this anymore within this party", he added.

"To reflect and realise the aspirations of my people and my workers I believe it is best that I now look ahead at a fresh start", he wrote conculding his letter with thanks to the party and party leadersrhip.

Scindia resigned from the Congress hours after meeting Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The two later visited Prime Minister Modi at his residence. This led to the speculation that he will join the BJP by today evening.

There are also reports that about 20 Congrss MLAs, including 07 ministers in Kamal Nath Government in Madhya Pradesh, are also ready to resign in support of Scindia. The Congress government in the state is likel to collapse in such a eventuality.
