New Delhi: The Indian Institutional Ranking Framework (IIRF) has ranked the Department of Architecture run by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur as India’s top ranked College of Architecture.

The Indian Institutional Ranking Framework released the IIRF Ranking 2024 for 31 top architecture colleges in India including government and private institutions Monday.

IIRF Ranking recognises institutions that excel in academic excellence, faculty expertise, and fostering the next generation of architectural talent.

Top 10 Colleges of Architecture in india

IIT Kharagpur Department of Architecture is followed by Department of Architecture and Planning, IIT - Roorkee and School of Planning And Architecture, New Delhi as the second and third best architecture colleges in India.

As per the IIRF Ranking 2024, the other seven architecture colleges in the Top 10 list are:

CET Department of Architecture, College of Engineering, Trivandrum, Kerala (4th Rank), Chandigarh College of Architecture –CCA (5th Rank), NIT Calicut Department of Architecture and Planning, Kerala (6th Rank), NIT Trichy Department of Architecture, Tamil Nadu (7th Rank), School of Planning and Architecture, Bhopal (8th Rank), NIT Hamirpur, Department of Architecture, Himachal Pradesh (9th Rank) and Department of Architecture & Planning Engineering, Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (NIT) Nagpur Maharashtra (10th Rank).

Other Top Ranking Colleges of Architecture

The renowened Sir J J College of Architecture Mumbai has been ranked 12th, Zakir Hussain College of Engineering & Technology, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) is ranked 14th, Faculty of Architecture and Ekistics, Jamia Milia Islamia University Delhi is ranked 15th, Department of Architecture and Planning, Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology, Bhopal is ranked 17th and APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University Thiruvananthapuram Kerala has been ranked 27th.

Indian Institutional Ranking Framework (IIRF) presented by Education Post, a monthly magazine on Higher Education, is a non-government body working on ranking of various institutions on a periodic basis. IIRF has experts from education, academics, statistics and management, who discuss and develop ranking methodology and approach.

There are separate ranking surveys for Indian Universities, Indian B-Schools, Indian Engineering Colleges, Indian Executive MBA offering institutes etc. Currently, IIRF is conducting a survey to rank the top universities of India.
