UGC NET 2024 postponed, check new schedule

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has postponed and rescheduled the UGC NET 2024 exams slated to be held in June this year.

UGC NET June 2024: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has postponed and rescheduled the UGC NET 2024 exams slated to be held in June this year.

The UGC NET exam was originally scheduled to be held on June 16, 2024. As per the new schedule, the exam will be held on June 18, 2024.

In a notification released today, the NTA said UGC NET exam has been rescheduled because of the UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Exams which is being held on the same date.

“The National Testing Agency (NTA) is in receipt of various representation from the candidates to extend the date of Examination for UGC - NET June 2024 due to UPSC CSE (Prelims) Examination – 2024 on the same date, i.e. 16 June 2024.

“In the interest of aspirants, the National Testing Agency has postponed the Exam date of UGC – NET June 2024 and reschedule it to Tuesday June 18, 2024”, the NTA said.

The UPSC Civil Services Prelims was supposed to be held on May 26, 2024. However since the CSE Prelims original schedule clashed with the 2024 Lok Sabha Polls, the UPSC decided to conduct it on June 16.

UGC NET Paper Pattern

In another major update, UGC NET this year will be held in pen and paper mode, and not online.

"The National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct UGC – NET June 2024 for 83 subjects in OMR (Pen and Paper), mode", the NTA said.

The NTA has been entrusted by the University Grants Commission (UGC) with the task of conducting UGC-NET, which is a test to determine the eligibility of Indian nationals for ‘award of Junior Research Fellowship and appointment as Assistant Professor’, ‘appointment as Assistant Professor and admission to Ph.D.’ and ‘admission to Ph.D. only’ in Indian universities and colleges.
