Another Indian students attacked in U.S. days after four others found dead

Chicago (United States): Another Indian student has been brutally attacked this time in Chicago days after his four counterparts were found dead in different parts of the United States.

In the video shared by the family members in Hyderabad, Syed Mazahir Ali is seen profusely bleeding from his nose and mouth, and pleading for "help".

Mazahir Ali was pursuing Masters in IT from Indiana Weslay University.

“I live nearby only and was on way to buy some food. They were four people who attacked me. They robbed me, took my phone and other belongings”, Mazahir Ali says in the video shared by Amjed Ullah Khan of Majlis Bachao Tehreek.

Wife pleads for govt help

Along with the videos from the crime scene, Amjed Ullah Khan also shared a letter addressed to Foreign Minister S Jaishankar by Mazahir Ali's wife Syeda Ruquiya Fatima Rizvi.

"I am very much worried about the safety and security of my husband in Chicago, USA. I request you to kindly help him in getting best medical treatment and if possible kindly make necessary arrangements so I can travel to USA along with my three minor children to be with my husband," her letter read.

In the letter to S Jaishankar, Ruquiya Fatima wrote the incident took place at Campbell Ave in Chicago when her husband was near his apartment on February 04, 2024.

She said the family was informed about the incident by some of her husband’s friends.

“Later on when I called him up, he was in a state of shock and unable to speak with me”, she wrote requesting the Foreign Minister to help him and ensure the best medical treatment.

The attack on Mazahir Ali is not an isolated incident. Since start of this year, as many as four Indian origin students have been killed or died mysteriously in different parts of the United States.

Shreyas Reddy Beniger, a 19-year-old student, was found dead last week, but authorities had ruled out any foul play. Another student, Neel Acharya, was found dead on the Purdue University campus in the same week, hours after his mother had reported him missing, according to NDTV.

Vivek Saini, a 25-year-old student from Haryana, was hammered to death by a homeless drug-addict in Georgia's Lithonia on January 16. Incidentally, Vivek had given shelter to the homeless and fed him for days.

Akul Dhawan, another Indian student, was found dead outside the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in January.
