

GATE 2027 Registration: IIT Madras has started through its official website 'gate2027.iitm.ac.in' from today i.e. Thursday August 27, 2026 Online Registration for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering 2027 (GATE 2027).
IIT Madras had earlier released the GATE 2027 notification, as per which the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering this year will be held for five days in February 2027.
As per the exam schedule released by IIT Madras, GATE 2027 dates are February 07, 13, 14, 20, and 21, 2027. The GATE 2027 will be held in two shifts (Forenoon and Afternoon sessions) every day.
The GATE 2027 will consist of 30 examination papers, including Robotics and Automation (RA), a new subject.
As per the GATE 2027 revised notification released by IIT Madras, online registration and opening of GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS) is August 27, 2026.
The last date of application for GATE 2027 for regular registration is September 27, 2026. Last date of GATE 2027 registration with late fee is October 05, 2026.
Opening and closing dates of GATE 2027 application rectification and correction window is October 14 to October 21, 2026 respectively.
IIT Madras will release GATE Exam City Allotment Notification on January 04, 2027. The date and time of GATE 2027 Admit Card will be announced later on.
The GATE score will be valid for three years from the result announcement, candidates should note.
Meanwhile, IIT Madras has reiterated that DigiLocker account has been made compulsory for GATE Registration.
“Registration for GATE 2027 through DigiLocker is mandatory for all Indian nationals. Please create or update your verified DigiLocker account”, IIT Madras said.
Run and controlled by the government of India, DigiLocker is a cloud based platform for storage, sharing and verification of official documents and certificates.
IIT Madras had a week ago announced the mandatory use of DigiLocker for GATE application. In a notification message posted on GATE official portal, IIT Madras had asked candidates to create DigiLocker account and update it before processing for GATE 2027 registration.
Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is a national examination conducted jointly by Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore and seven Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) at Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras and Roorkee on behalf of National Coordination Board (NCB)-GATE, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India.
