City Police apprehended two persons and seized three copies of Holy
Quran, dating back to 13th century, from their possession.
The police seized the books from Pankajkumar Parkee alias Malik and
Vangari Ravi when they were trying to sell them.
According to police, the accused were planning to sell these Holy
Qurans for Rs 75 lakh considering their antiquity.
One of them was written on hand made paper and bound with leather
and decorated with gold foil.
The Holy Quran was in the Naskh Script written in carbon black and
vermillion with each folio containing 11 lines.
The other was in Majmua manuscript with each folio with gold and
The Miniature Quran was handmade with leather binding. The codex was
written on octagonal paper in undlus script of Spain.
