Thiruvananthapuram: Muslim Samyuktha Vedi, a platform for various Muslim organisations, demanding the removal of PDP leader Abdul Nassar Madani's name from the charge sheet of the Bangalore blast case in July 2008, will stage a dharna and take out a march to the Secretariat here on July 21.
Addressing a press conference today, the organisation's Vice-Chairman Abdusukkur Alkhasimi alleged that the inclusion of Madani's name as an accused in the Bangalore blast case was part of a political conspiracy to destroy his party's growing popularity.
The agitation was aimed at exerting pressure on the Kerala government to support Maduani on humanitarian grounds, he said. Earlier, the state leadership of PDF began an indefinite strike in front of Madvanis house in Anwarsseri against the move to arrest him in connection with the blast case.
Later, a PDP team met Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan and told him that Madani was trapped in the case. They also met Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President Ramesh Chennithala here, urging his support on the issue.
The Kerala Government had said that it would take necessary action to maintain law and order in case Maduani was arrested by Karnataka police in connection with the blast.
Madani was questioned by Bangalore police earlier this month on the basis of information provided by suspected Lashkar operative T Nazir, the prime accused in the case.
Nine low-intensity crude bombs had exploded in different parts of the Bangalore city on July 25, 2008, killing a woman and leaving 20 others injured.
