New Delhi:
A green manufacturing center of excellence will be set up in
Germany in the Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) mode under a pact
inked between the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), the
Central Manufacturing Technology Institute (CMTI) and Germany's
Fraunhoffer Institute, it was announced here Saturday.
According to CII chief Chandrajit Banerjee, the center will
facilitate the process of Germany exporting advanced eco-friendly
technologies to the Indian manufacturing industry.
"The setting up of this center of excellence by CII will redefine
the way the Indian industry, especially the small and medium
enterprises, have access to newer, clean and green technologies,
said Banerjee.
"It is the industry's effort in making India a responsible global
citizen by adopting clean and green manufacturing technologies,"
he added.
Under the agreement the Indian industry will also have access to
Fraunhofer's research and development network in areas such as
health, security, communication, energy and environment.
Fraunhofer Institute will provide technology and research
consultancy in advanced manufacturing technology to the
manufacturing industries in India.
The partners will also work towards identifying joint corporation
projects leading to new product development for the benefit of
Indian society.
Interested industry players would be invited to either form a
consortium or work in partnership with Fraunhofer, CMTI and CII on
these joint cooperation projects.
