New Delhi:
Traders associations, residents groups and MCD officials today
deliberated on a proposed redevelopment plan for congested Chandni
Chowk area outlined by the civic body.
However, proposals in the Rs 400 crore plan failed to find favour
with many participants.
"They are talking about 15-metres wide footpaths on both sides of
the road and making the stretch one-way for most parts of the day
-- both of which are not feasible," Chandni Chowk Nagrik Manch
Secretary Praveen Shankar Kapoor said.
Renuka Gupta, councillor from Ballimaran who attended the meeting
called by the Additional Commissioner (Engineering), also felt
that most of the proposals are "not practical".
