New Delhi:
A division
emerged in the parliamentary panel studying the Lokpal bill
Thursday with ten members submitting a note of dissent on the
draft, sources said.
Sources said there is a division among the members on bringing the
prime minister, Group C government employees and the CBI within
the ambit of the proposed Lokpal.
Some members also alleged that while there was a general agreement
Wednesday that Group C employees will be under Lokpal, a meeting
was suddenly called Thursday and it was decided that Group C
employees will be kept out of the Lokpal ambit.
"It is strange why the meeting was called today when most issues
had been agreed upon yesterday," Samajwadi Party leader and panel
member Shailendra Kumar told IANS.
"I don't think the recommendations will support a strong Lokpal,"
he said.
