NVDA zeroing on medium & minor projects in Narmada valley

Bhopal: Narmada Valley Development
Authority, (NVDA), besides construction of major projects in
Narmada valley is now focusing over medium and minor projects
proposed in the valley.
On the initiative of Chief Minister
Shivraj Singh Chouhan NVDA is all set to make Narmada Basin
Projects Company Ltd. This company which is likely to be operative
in near future would look after survey, investigation and
construction of medium and minor projects in Narmada valley.
Taking forward action in this regard
NVDA has prepared detailed project reports of six medium projects
in advance. Out of six projects four is in Khandwa, one in Barwani
and Dewas district each. On completion these six projects would
generate an additional irrigation area of 27088 Hac. The advance
preparation of DPR's will enable new company to start the work on
these projects as it comes into existence.
To make things smooth for the company O. P. Rawat, Vice
Chairman NVDA, is keeping himself in touch with the administration
and farmers of the area where work on medium projects are likely
to be started in near future. In an attempt to convey the benefits
of medium irrigation project and satisfy farmers on their queries
Rawat on Tuesday visited village Kishanpura under Khategaon
Tehsil of Dewas district. He interacted with the farmers and local
representatives and explained the benefits of medium irrigation
project proposed in the area.
Rawat informed that 135 medium and 3000 small irrigation
projects have been proposed in Narmada valley. Out of these 135
medium projects only 19 and out of 3000 small projects 1000 have
been completed so far. "We are making all efforts to give momentum
to the construction of medium and minor projects under newly
constructed company", he added. The construction of these projects
would be in association with State Water Resources Department.
Meanwhile, Madhya Pradesh Minister of State of Narmada Valley
Development Department and Chairman, K. L. Agarwal has said
that the company has been formed to manage finances and pay
special attention on the medium and small projects in the Narmada
valley
It may be mentioned here that 2.880 MAF water is to be utilized
through medium and 2.510 MAF water through minor projects in
Narmada valley.
