Nitish objects to arrests of Muslims by ATS

Monday April 02, 2012 10:57:09 PM, Agencies

Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar Monday, while objecting the arrest of members of minority community from parts of Bihar by Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad and Delhi Police without informing the state authorities, said the issue would be raised at the conference of chief ministers.

The state had objections to the arrest of people belonging to the minority community from districts without informing the state, news agency PTI quoted Nitish Kumar as saying.

Nitish was replying to the issue raised by opposition RJD member Chandra Shekhar during zero hour in the assembly.

The chief minister said making arrests without informing the state police might create law and order problems.

He said that it was objectionable that the arrests were made "in the name of Darbhanga module of terrorism, Madhubani module and Bihar module".

Informing that he had written to the Centre about it, the chief minister said he would raise the issue during the conference of chief ministers on NCTC in New Delhi.

Maharashtra ATS and Delhi police have in the past few months arrested Muslims from parts of Bihar alleging them to be involved in some of the blasts cases.
