Hyderabad: A city
court Wednesday sent Bharath Mohanlal Rateswar alias Bharath Bhai,
an accused in the 2007 Mecca Masjid blast case, to judicial
custody till Feb 3.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) presented Rateswar before
a magistrate at a Nampally criminal court. He was later shifted to
Chanchalguda Central Jail.
The NIA has brought Rateswar on transit warrant from Rajasthan,
where he was lodged in jail in the Ajmer Dargah blast case. He is
also an accused in Samjhauta Express blast and Malegaon blast
cases.
Nine people were killed and 58 were injured in the bomb blast at
the historic Mecca Masjid here on May 18, 2007.
Arrested by Delhi unit of the NIA in connection with Ajmer Dargah
bomb blast case, Bharat Bhai has already confessed his involvement
in Mecca Masjid bomb blast.
He is the seventh accused in the case and it was at a meeting at
his house that the blast conspiracy was hatched.
The NIA in May last year had filed the second charge sheet in the
case, naming Swami Aseemanand as the prime accused in the case.
The CBI had filed the first charge sheet in 2010 against Devender
Gupta and Lokesh Sharma, who are also accused in Ajmer and
Malegaon blast cases.
