Ishar new vice-chancellor of Jammu university

Jammu: Mohan Paul
Singh Ishar, professor at Amritsar's Guru Nanak Dev University,
has been appointed the new vice chancellor of the Jammu
University, it was announced Wednesday.
Jammu and Kashmir Governor N.N. Vohra, who also is chancellor of
Jammu University, appointed Ishar after consulting Chief Minister
Omar Abdullah. Professor in the pharmaceutical sciences
department, Ishar will succeed Varun Sahni.
Ishar was appointed from a panel of three people recommended by a
search committee chaired by G.K. Chadha, president of the South
Asian University, Delhi.
Ishar was born at Jammu's Kathua Nov 4, 1954, where his family
lived after migrating from what is now Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
