Patna: Bihar turned
100 years old Thursday, with the government declaring a holiday to
mark the start of three days of celebrations.
It was on this day when the British carved out the state from
Bengal Presidency in 1912.
Termed Bihar Diwas, the government has decorated the state
capital, including all government buildings, with blue lights. The
Gandhi Maidan here is ready to host the event.
A brainchild of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Bihar Divas was first
celebrated in 2010.
"We must celebrate our glorious past and gear up to revive it,"
Nitish Kumar said in a message.
