Radio Azad Hind dedicated to values of freedom struggle & self-rule launched

Bhopal: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), ruled Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan launched Radio Azad Hind here on Sunday.

It is the first radio of its kind in the country, which is fully dedicated to the values of freedom struggle and self-rule. It can be listened on 90.8 megahertz daily from 7 am to 12 noon and 5 pm to 10 pm. Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose had set up Radio Azad Hind 70 years ago on March 25, 1942. Radio Azad Hind has been launched to commemorate this day.

Chouhan stressed the need to make the new generation factually aware of India’s freedom struggle. He said that independence was not attained only by non-violence movement. Revolutionaries also played an import role in it. He said that it is bounden duty of every patriotic citizen to rekindle and perpetuate memories of martyrs. How the spirit of patriotism will develop among people if martyrs were not worshipped? He said that present problems will be removed only through the spirit of patriotism.

In his inaugural broadcast, the Chief Minister said that the dream of a radio dedicated to revolutionaries of independence movement and memories of immortal martyrs has been fulfilled. He hoped that Radio Azad Hind will broadcast teachings and messages of great freedom fighters and will also play a decisive role in transforming society by giving expression to educative, cultural and developmental works.

The Chief Minister said that Radio Azad Hind will turn out to be a forceful medium for inculcate a sense of patriotism among people and create a will-power among them to discharge their duties towards the nation. He urged the people associated with broadcast of Radio Azad Hind to prepare programmes on the events of freedom movement, revolutionaries’ lives and achievements, which can inspire the listeners towards patriotism and create a sense of pride among them towards the country.

Chief Minister Chouhan said that Madhya Pradesh is the soil of martyrs. Amar Shaheed Chandrashekhar Azad’s birthplace Bhabhra is being developed as a pilgrimage centre for patriots. He congratulated Swaraj Sansthan Sanchalanalay for launching Radio Azad Hind.

Culture and Public Relations Minister Laxmikant Sharma said that Radio Azad Hind is being launched at a time when 150th birthday of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore is being observed. He informed that 150th birthday year of Swami Vivekanand will also be observed in the state. A high-level committee headed by the Chief Minister is being constituted to chalk out a series of programmes during the year. He said that Madhya Pradesh is constantly moving ahead in the culture sector under the guidance of the Chief Minister.

Principal Secretary Culture Vinod Semwal also addressed the function. Broadcast expert R. Shridhar and Director Culture Shriram Tiwari were also present on the occasion.
