Patna: A Right to Information (RTI)
activist was shot and seriously wounded Friday by some assailants
in Bihar's Muzaffarpur district, police said.
RTI activist Razi Hasan was battling for life at a hospital in
Muzaffarpur, about 70 km from here. "It was a murderous attack on
him," a police official said.
Police have arrested two people suspected to be involved in the
attack.
Mahendra Yadav, an RTI activist, said Hasan was repeatedly
threatened by some people after he exposed their misdeeds.
"Hasan complained thrice to the local police that he was facing
threat to his life but they hardly initiated any action," Yadav
claimed.
During the last one year, nearly a dozen RTI activists were
attacked, assaulted and harassed across Bihar. Last December, an
RTI activist, Ram Vilas Singh was shot dead in Lakhisarai
district, while an activist was assaulted in Rohtas district last
month, sources said.
