Rare identical triplets born to Malegaon couple

Saturday November 24, 2012 09:39:55 PM, ummid.com Staff Reporter

Malegaon: In what doctors claimed as a rarest of rare case, a 30-year-old woman in Malegaon has delivered identical triplets – all boys, last Friday on November 16.

Born at Sushmit nursing home in the city by normal vaginal delivery – again a rare case, the tiny trio is doing wonderfully well, according to the physician and family members.

Surprisingly, till the last moment the happy parents Syyeda Perveen and Ziaurrehman (34) – an artist, playwright and one of the key members of the local film industry, thought they were having identical twin boys. It was only after the deliveries of twins that they got to know that they had been blessed with triplets.

The Tiny Trio

“We had three daughters and were praying for a boy this time. But Allah, the Almighty has blessed us with three. We are very happy”, said Ziaurrehman.

“It was a full term normal delivery. Initially the ultrasound tests showed that the couple would have twins. But after the twins were delivered, we realised the presence of one more”, Dr. Shashikant Wavad of Sushmit nursing home said while talking to ummid.com.

“We had three daughters and were praying for a boy this time. But Allah, the Almighty has blessed us with three. We are very happy”, said Ziaurrehman.

Born exactly a week before on November 16 last Friday, baby Hassan (weighing 1760 grams) met the world first at 09:33 a.m. Brothers Noman (1860 grams) and Zeeshan (2060 grams) followed few minutes later at 09:37 a.m. and 09:47 a.m. respectively.

What surprised the doctor the most apart from the birth of the identical triplets – all boys, is the full term normal delivery.

“Normally twins or more are premature and delivered by Caesarean section, and need medical assistance for weeks. But the newborns were in surprisingly good health and did not need any respiratory support or incubator”, Dr Wavad said.

He said that they were doing very well and breathing on their own, and hence were discharged from the hospital just after four days of their birth.

Doctors said that such triplets conceived naturally without the aid of fertility drugs are also a statistical rarity. Some doctors have said the chances of having identical triplets are as tiny as one in a million. Dr. AbdulWakeel Faizee, a paediatrician who works as a government medical officer and currently posted at Nampur, based on published research papers, puts the number close to 1 in 125,000.

Meanwhile, the local film fraternity is also rejoicing the birth of triplets to the family of Zia Malegaonvi – the name Ziaurrehman uses as script writer. And they have the reason for this.

“Few years back, we had celebrated Nasir Shaikh becoming father of twins. Now Zia has been blessed with triplets. It is a happy moment for Mollywood”, said Sajid Ashraf, an artist.

Better known for his award winning film Malegaon ka Superman, Nasir is one of the pillars of Mollywood - the local film Industry.
