Malegaon:
The death toll in the Sulaimani Masjid collapse has been raised to
two while at least four people are still believed to be trapped
under the debris.
While one of the two dead is Abdul
Wahab, a construction worker who was working inside the mosque at
the time of the incident, the other is Shaikh Faheem - a 16-year
old youth from Mumbai's Andheri area.
Faheem was part of a 14-member
Tablighi Jamaat which was in the city on the fateful day.
Two floors of the Sulaimani Masjid which was under renovation collapsed
on Wednesday in the afternoon creating panic in this Muslim dominated
town in North Maharashtra.
The mosque was under renovation
since last fortnight. The two floors collapsed at around 03:15 in
the afternoon.
At least ten people have including
two women been injured in the incident, who are mostly
construction labourers. While four of them were discharged after
emergency medical aid, six are getting treatment in private
hospitals.
Fourteen members of a Tabilighi
Jamaat from Mumbai were inside the mosque at the time of the
tragic incident. While one of them has died in the incident,
thirteen others are safe.
The entire fire brigade staff led by
Municipal Commissioner Ajit Jadhav are busy in removing the
debris.
The Community leaders along with
local MLA Mufti Ismael, Corporator Ejaz Umar, Ex Mayor Khalid
Yunus Eisa and others are assisting in the rescue operation.
