"Ramzan Painter died at 06:30 p.m while he was at work in his office Thursday. He was suffering from cancer", family sources said while talking to ummid.com.
He is survived by wife, four sons and a daughter.
His youngest son Fayyaz Ahmed said his father was under medical observation and had visited the family doctor Thursday. He said after the medical check-up, he was writing something while sitting in his office when he felt chest pain and died soon after.
His funeral took place at 11:00 p.m. in the night at Malegaon Bada Qabristan. A large number of people from all sections of the society attended the funeral.
Famous as Ramzan Painter, he adopted 'Faizee' as suffix to his name out of affection, love and respect to his teacher Faiz Mujaddid Lahori - the world renowned Urdu calligrapher and artist.
He was known for his beautiful calligraphic Toghras, intricate works of calligraphy in different styles using verses form the Quran along with various geometric and floral designs. He was one among the only few Lahori Nastalique style calligraphers in India.
Apart from calligraphic work on papers, boards and invitation cards, his creations also decorated the buildings and residential complexes.
Ramzan Painter had an interesting habit of collecting death records of the people of Malegaon. His office was frequented by visitors who wanted to know the death records of their family members and friends.
Besides collecting death records, he also had a good collection of 'Malegaon Firsts' - details of the Malegaonians who were first achievers in their respective fields. In 2010, he published the collection in a book form titled as "Tazkerah Awa'al-e-Malegaon'.
