New Delhi: A shocked and worried Air India staffer, who was assaulted by Shiv Sena Member of Parliament Ravindra Gaikwad over a minor issue on Thursday, in his complaint letter sent to the authorities said "God will only save Indi if this is the culture and behavior of our MPs".
"God save our country if this is the culture & behavior of our MPs", R Sukumar, 60-year-old Duty Manager, said.
"R.Gaikwad hit me, used bad words & not only broke my specs but also humiliated me in front of the whole crew", he said in his complaint letter, according to news agency ANI.
"When I told him what he's asking isn't possible he (Shiv Sena MP R.Gaikwad) became abusive, used foul language", he said.
Shiv Sena MP Ravindra Gaikwad on his part, while admitting that he attacked the Air India staffer, said he did so becuase was abused.
"Yes,I had hit the staff. Do you expect me to hear their abuses quietly?" Gaikwad said.
Gaikwad was travelling from Pune to New Delhi when the scuffle broke out over the sitting arrangement. He claimed that his ticket was for business class but Air India provided him economy class.
Air India said it has constituted a team to probe the entire matter.
"We have constituted a team to probe the whole incident," Air India spokesperson said, adding, "It has been learned that the scuffle broke out over the seating issue."
Air India is the flag carrier airline of India and the third-largest airline in the country in terms of passengers carried, after IndiGo and Jet Airways. It is owned by Air India Limited, a Government of India enterprise, and operates a fleet of Airbus and Boeing aircraft serving 90 domestic and international destinations.
