IAS officer found dead

Lucknow:
A senior IAS officer's body was found lying near State Guest House on Meerabai road in Uttar Pradesh capital Lucknow this morning, police said.

Anurag Tiwari, the IAS officer of 2007-batch Karnataka cadre and a native of Bahraich, about 130 km from Lucknow, was posted as Commissioner of Food and Civil Supplies in Uttar Pradesh.

"Some passers-by informed the police after spotting the body lying on the roadside. The victim's identity was ascertained by the identity card recovered from his belongings", AK Shahi, Inspector of Hazratganj Police Station, said.

Anurag Tiwari's dead body has been sent to a hospital for examination.

The police is also studying the CCTV footage of nearby areas to find leads. It refused to share any further details but confirmed that the "death was suspicious".

It is also reported that Tiwari was in Lucknow for some personal work and was staying at the guest house booked by his friend and batchmate PN Singh, who is Vice Chairman of LDA.
