UPTET 2019: The Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Board (UPBEB) has postponed Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (UPTET 2019) citing "inevitable reasons".
The decision to postpone UPTET 2019 came as protest against Citizenship Amendment Act 2019 (CAA) and National Register of Citizens (NRC) spread to many parts of Uttar Pradesh. According to reports on Friday, as many as 06 people were killed in violence that erupted during the anti-CAA and anti-NRC protests.
"UP TET exam scheduled to be held on December 22, is postponed till further notice due to some inevitable reasons", a circular issued by Additional Chief Secretary, Revenue and Basic Education department, Renuka Kumar, on Friday said.
"The new dates for the examination will be declared at the earliest possible", the circular said.
Teacher Eligibility Test is compulsory for recruitment of teachers in government and aided private schools.
The Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Board (UPBEB) had released on its website upbasiceduboard.gov.in Thursday December 12, 2019 the Admit Card of the Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (UPTET 2019).
As and when held, UPTET will comprise of 02 papers. UPTET Paper I will be held on Sunday December 22, 2019 from 10 to 12:30 pm. UPTET Paper II will be held on the same day from 02:30 pm to 05:00 pm.
