Hindus Sikhs form Human Chain

Mumbai: In a move that will further give sleepless nights to the people who are trying to divide the Indians on communal lines, Hindus and Sikhs formed a human chain as Muslims offered Namaaz during the protest against Citizenship Amendment Act 2019 in New Delhi Thursday.

The video of the moving gesture, shoot outside the Jamia Millia Islamia, is viral and widely shared by the users on social media. The one shared by Aishwarya Paliwal, a journalist with India Today, is viewed by 144,000 people as on today.

"#JamiaMilliaUniversity while Muslims read namaz Hindus, Sikhs form a human chain to shield them. This while protestors protest against CAA /NRC in national capital", Aishwarya wrote while sharing the video on Twitter.

"This is how you unite a country all faiths form human chain", a Twitter user appreciated the video in these words.

Jamia Millia Islamia New Delhi is in news since Sunday December 15 when police personnel stormed the university campus without the necessary permission and beat students in the hostel, mosque and the Jamia library.

Videos of police brutality against the male and female students have surfaced ever since where the police is also seen damaging the library furniture.

Another video of Hinus forming a human chain while Muslims are offering Salah (Namaz) is also viral on Twitter. The video, recorded in Hyderabad and shared by Md Asif Khan on December 20, is viewed by more than 132,000 people.

"Hindus formed human chain when Muslims offered Salah/prayer during #CAAProtest in Hyderabad,India. These videos will give nightmares to fascists", Asif wrote on Twitter while tagging the video.

Protests are being held in various cities and towns of India ever since the Modi government passed the Citizenship Amendment Bill 2019 in the Parliament on December 11. The bill passed by the Parliament became a law after the President put his seal on it the next day..

The newly passed act pledges to give citizenship to the persecuted minorities from the Hindu, Sikh, Bodh, Christian, Jain communities from Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh. Those opposing the Act question the exclusion of Muslims and also differ with the government on religion as the criteria for citizenship.

They are also opposing the Act because it includes persecuted minorities from only three countries, while does not guarentee any such privilege to the minorities persecuted in Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Bhutan, China and other countries in the neighborhood of India.
