Mumbai: Micro blogging site Twitter is working on an update which will enable users to edit their tweets, but the feature will come with a rider.
"We are working on an update to provide users option to edit their tweets. But, the original tweet will still be viewable", Jack Dorsey, Twitter CEO, said in a podcast interview with Joe Rogan last week.
"May be we introduce a 5-30 seconds delay in sending of the tweet and within that window, you can edit because the issue with going longer than that means taking real-time nature of the conversational flow out of it," he added.
Dorsey revealed this when, during the interview, Rogan suggested that Twitter could just roll out editable tweets, and solve the concern of its spreading misinformation, by retaining the original tweet. To that, Dorsey responded saying that's "exactly" what they are working on it.
With the feature letting users see original tweet, in addition to edited tweet, Twitter could tackle the spread of misinformation, Dorsey said.
Dorsey first addressed the possibility of adding an edit feature for tweets in December 2016, based on the Twitteraties' suggestions.
