Chandigarh: A day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi's rally in Gurdaspur, Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh Friday reminded him of 2002 anti-Muslim riots in Gujarat and FIR filed against BJP and RSS workers in 1984 anti-Sikh riots.
“What about the 2002 riots in Gujarat which happened right under your nose and in which your own party members were squarely blamed and named,” Amarinder asked PM Modi, demanding to know why the Prime Minister continued to keep a total silent on the genocide of the Muslims that took place under his watch when he was Chief Minister of Gujarat.
Amarinder Singh targeted the Prime Minister after he slammed the Congress for its role during the 1984 anti-Sikh riots in Delhi and other parts of the country. Jo aaj bhi dango ke aaropiyon ko mukhyamantri pad ka puruskar de rahe hain, un logon se Punjab samet deshvasiyon ko satark rehne ki zarurat hai, Modi said while addressing a rally in Gurdaspur.
Amarinder Singh however asked PM Modi why he made no mention about the BJP and RSS workers named in the Tilak Marg Police Station FIR related to the 1984 violence against Sikhs?
Replying to Prime Minister Modi's claim that the Congress and its governments in Punjab and other states are just fooling the farmers in the name of loan waiver, Amarinder Singh presented a list of over 04 lakh people who according to him were benefited.
"Here is the list of 4,14,285 farmers whose loans have been waived by the Punjab government. How can a Prime Minister utter such lies?” he said calling the Prime Minister “Master of deceit and disinformation” and “Jumlebaaz”.
The Punjab Chief Minister also challenged the Prime Minister on the Kartarpur Corridor issue.
“You have not given even a single paisa till now for the celebration of the 550th Parkash Purab of Guru Nanak despite our repeated pleas and requests, and yet claim to be the guardians of the Sikhs and their religion”, he claimed.
