Bengaluru: The Karnataka State Haj Committee is holding today i.e. Wednesday January 16 the Haj Qurrah 2019 or draw of lots to finalise the list of pilgrims who will embark on Haj journey this year.
According to the Karnataka Haj Committee, the Haj 2019 Qurrah or draw of lots will be held today at 11:00 am at Sadath Haj House, Richmond Road. Minority Department Minister will preside over the special ceremony organised to select the final list of pilgrims who will embark on Hajj this year from Karnataka.
The Karnataka State Haj Committee has received a total of 13,995 applications. Based on the population of Muslims in the state which stands at 78,93,06, it has been allotted a quota of 6,701 pilgrims. Hence the Qurrah will be held today for 6,701 seats and the result will be displayed on Haj Committee of India website.
Follow the steps given below to check if your name is in the Final or Waiting List released by the Karnataka State Haj Committee.
Go to Haj Committee of India website by clicking here hajcommittee.gov.in. Brwose to the bottom of home page and look for the area similar to the one shown below.
Enter your Cover No in the box. Your Cover No should start with your state code. Click on the Down Arraow from 'Select State' menu and select your state. Enter Passport No in the box. Click on "Load" button. Your application status shoul appear on the computer or mobile phone screen.
The Haj Qurrah process starts district wise. Before the Qurah/Draw of Lots, it has been decided by the Haj Committee to directly select the pilgrims of above 70 years of age and women who had applied to go for Haj without Mahram.
After the Draw by the Karnataka Haj Committee roday the list of pilgrims going to Haj from Bengaluru, Belgaum, Mysore, Bidar, Gulbarga and other state districts and cities are now final. Those who had applied for this year's haj can check their status using cover number as explianed above.
The Haj Committee of India distributed its total quota of 175,025 seats to pilgrims going to Haj through it. Accordingly, a total of 125,025 pilgrims will go through the Haj Committee of India and the remaining 50,000 seats have been allotted to Private Tour Operators (PTOs).
The Haj Committee of India has received a total of 267,261 Haj Application Forms (HAF) from 31 Indian states. The number of application received this year has drastically reduced due to various reasons. But, it is still more than the double of India's Haj Quota allotted by Saudi Government.
Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, Union Minister of Minorities, has requested the Saudi government to increase India's quota by 20,000. However a final decision on this is yet to be taken. All the states including Maharashtra will be allotted more seats if this additional quota is granted to the country.
Meanwhile, the Uttar Pradesh State Haj Committee held the Haj 2019 Qurrah of the state on Friday January 11, 2019. The Rajasthan State Haj Committee held the Haj 2019 Qurrah on January 13, 2019. Maharashtra State Haj Committee conducted the Haj 2019 Qurrah on Monday January 07, 2019 and Kerala Haj Committee conducted the Qurrah on Saturday January 12, 2019 and Madhya Pradesh completed the Qurrah on Tuesday January 15, 2019.
Also, the Haj Committee of India after completing Qurrah will release the Haj 2019 waiting list on February 05, 2019. The pilgrims whose names are in the Haj 2019 waiting list will be given a chance against cancellation of pilgrims who are unable to make the payment or cancel their Haj travel due to some other reason.
Haj pilgrims should note that the Hajj 2019 Flight Schedule from all embarkation points will be released by the Haj Committee of India only after the process of the Haj Qurrah is completed by all states. However, according to Haj Action Plan 2019, the first outbound flight for Haj 2019 will depart from India on July 01, 2019. The last outbound Haj 2019 flight will be on August 03, 2019. The first inbound Haj flight from Saudi Arabia to India will be on August 14, 2019.
Coinciding with Eid al Adha, Haj is the annual ritual to commemorate the sacrifices made by Prophet Ibrahim, his wife Hager and their son Prophet Ismael. The likely date of Wuqoof e Arafat - the key ritual of the Hajj, is August 09 or 10. As the Islamic calendar is based on sighting of moon, the final date will be decided once the new moon of the month of Dhul Hijjah is sighted.
