[Protests against CAA-NRC-NPR are underway in different parts of India and also at some places abroad.]
Bhopal: Amidst intensifying protests in India and abroad against Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and National Register of Citizens (NRC), a leader of Bahrtiya Janata Party (BJP) in Madhya Pradesh said the newly enacted law will harm everyone including SCs, STs and OBCs.
"Not just Muslims. The CAA-NRC will be a blow to SCs, STs and OBCs everyone. Read it once and you will understand", Ajit Bourasi, the BJP leader from Madhya Pradesh said in a Facebook post.
He also wrote that he didn’t have a herd mentality and would never endorse what’s wrong.
Ajit Bourasi, who had contested the MP assembly election from Alot in Ujjain as BJP candidate is not alone from the party in raising the dissenting voice against the CAA-NRC. Earlier, BJP MLA from Maihar Narayan Tripathi had spoken against the CAA, calling it “dangerous” for the country.
Moreover, a large number of BJP leaders associated with BJP Minority Cell had also resigned from the party to protest against the CAA, NRC and NPR.
The dissenting voices withing the BJP are in line with what the critics in India and abroad are telling since December 12 when the CAA became a law.
Citing the infamous "CAA-NRC chronology" as described by Unions Home Minister Amit Shah in speeches delivered on various occasions, the critics warn not only of the dire consequences of the CAA-NRC but also expose the hidden motives of the Modi government.
The government however says the CAA is for granting citizenship to persecuted Hindus, Sikhs, Jains, Parsis and Buddhists from Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh and it does not harm anyone in India.
