Gandhinagar: The total number of Coronavirus positive cases climbed over the 18,000-mark in Gujarat, as a record number of fresh positive cases, 485 were added on Wednesday, taking the total to 18,117 in the state.
The major contributor Ahmedabad also crossed the 13,000-mark with 13,063 cases. Wednesday also saw Coronavirus claiming 30 more lives in the state, taking the total number of deaths to 1,122. At least 318 patients were discharged after being treated in hospitals on Wednesday.
A total of 485 fresh cases of SARS-coV-2 virus infection were detected across the state, the maximum number on a single day so far in the state. The percentage of Ahmedabad (which has comprised of over 70 per cent of total cases till now) has come down to 59.69 per cent with 290 cases. The major worry for health authorities is that the number of positive cases are increasing in the rest of the state.
Ahmedabad was followed by Surat (77), Gandhinagar (39, maximum number of positive cases detected), Vadodara *34), Banaskantha (10), Kheda and Patan (5 each), Bhavnagar and Mahesana (4 each), Panchmahals and Bharuch (3 each), Rajkot, Aravalli and Navsari (2 each) and Anand, Sabarkantha, Dahod, Junagadh and Surendranagar with one positive case each.
Gujarat's death toll climbed over 1100 with a total of 1,122 deaths in the state on Wednesday. The reporting of over 20 deaths daily since the start of the month of May, has continued in June.
Wednesday saw yet another 30 patients succumbing to the dreaded virus, out of which Ahmedabad had the highest casualties, 22. Three patients from Vadodara, two patients from Surat and one each from Bhavnagar, Kutch and Navsari succumbed to the virus.
Despite the share of Corona positive cases from Ahmedabad coming down, the death rate of the city remained the same, around 82 per cent of the total (exactly 81.10 per cent). Till date, out of the total deaths, 910 people have died in Ahmedabad, followed by 74 in Surat, 44 in Vadodara, 14 in Gandhinagar, 10 each in Anand and Panchmahals, 9 in Bhavnagar, 7 in Aravalli and 6 each in Patan and Mahesana.
On Wednesday, a total of 318 patients were discharged. Till now, total 12,212 patients have been discharged in the state.
Crossing the 18.000-mark, the total number of positive cases in Gujarat has reached 18,117. Ahmedabad crossing the 13 thousand mark, continued to lead the state with maximum positive cases (13,063), followed by Surat (1,794), Vadodara (1,140), Gandhinagar (339), Bhavnagar (283), Mahesana (129), Banaskantha (125), Rajkot (117), Aravalli and Sabarkantha (107 each), Anand (102), Panchmahals (94), Patan (86), Kutch (82), Kheda (76), Botad (59) and Jamnagar with 54 positive cases.
Health authorities have so far carried out a total of 2,27,898 tests in the state, out of which 18,117 have been found positive and 209,781 negative, nearly eight per cent of positivity rate.
There are 4,783 active cases, out of which the condition of 4,719 is stable, whereas 64 critical patients are still on ventilator.
There are over 2.3 lakh people quarantined in the state at 2,32,833 where 2,25,304 are home quarantined and 7,529 in institutional facilities.
