Mumbai/Bengaluru: Hundreds of women continued their protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), National Register of Citizens (NRC) and National Population register (NPR) at Bilal Bagh in Bengaluru and Mumbai Shaheen Bagh at Morland Road amid Coronavirus scare.

Similar protests against CAA, NRC and NPR are also underway in Malegaon, Bhiwandi and other parts of India.

"I am not scared of Coronavirus. Even if I fall sick that is not such a big issue. First annul the CAA and National Register of Citizens (NRC)," said a lady protesting at Bilal Bagh in Bangalore.

She said if the government is so concerned about the protesters' safety, it can arrange for our protection.

"Remove the CAA and the NRC, we will go back to our homes and relax. Do not subject us to the difficulties like that of Assam," she said.

"The Hijab we are wearing is our mask", said a woman protesting in Bhiwandi - some 35 kmtrs from Mumbai where a similar protest against NRC, NPR and CAA is underway near Mumbai Central Railway Station.

The protesters appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah to undo the CAA and the NPR.

Most of the women are wearing masks to avert Coronavirus contracting them and are maintaining distance between each other. The protesters have also fumigated and sanitized the site of their showdown.

The Delhi's Shaheen Bagh style Bilal Bagh and Mumbai Bagh protests in Bengaluru and Mumbai have respectively completed six weeks and 50 days.

On Monday, Mumbai police had appealed the Mumbai Bagh women to end their protests. They however refused the police demand. In the meeting with senior police officials, Mumbai Bagh protesters also demanded action against Inspector Shalini Sharma of Nagpada Police Station.

Likewise, protest at Malegaon Shaheen Bagh completed its 56th day Tuesday. Protest against CAA-NRC-NPR is underway in Bhiwandi since last 47 days.
