Kota: Jyoti, 24-year-old daughter of Suresh Dhakad, the Congress MLA from Madhya Pradesh who rebelled against the party and joined the BJP, allegedly committed suicide in Rajasthan, police officials said.
Jyoti was married to Dr Jai Singh Mehata who is posted as medical officer at the government health centre in Shahabad area and lives in Baskheda village of Baran district of Rajasthan, news agency PTI said quoting police officials.
Police found the body of the woman, identified as Jyoti, lying on the floor of the house in Bhaskheda village with ligature marks around her neck, SHO of Kelwada police station in the district Nand Singh said.
The incident occurred on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday, he said.
Dhakad along with 15 other MLAs and 06 ministers in the last week had rebelled against the Congress government in Madhya Pradesh.
The resignation of 22 party MLAs led to the fall of the Congress government in the state. Following this the Supreme Court of India in response to a petition ordered floor test by 05:00 pm Friday.
Kamal Nath however resigned as Chief Minister Madhya Pradesh before the floor test.
