Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K. Palaniswami on Saturday announced postponement of Class 10 board exams to April 15, 2020 in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
Announcing this in the state Assembly, Palaniswami said as a precautionary measure to prevent the spread of Coronavirus the tenth standard exams scheduled to begin on March 27 has been postponed to April 15.
The complete date sheet and revised time table will be released soon, sources said.
He said a total about 9.45 lakh students would appear for the tenth standard exams in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
The Board of Examinations, Tamil Nadu conducts the tenth standard exams for Puducherry.
Earlier CBSE and CISCE have also postponed Class 10 and Class 12, and ISC and ICSE exams because of Coronavirus outbreeak. The Kerala Education department too has cancelled SSLC and class 12 board exams 2020.
The NTA which conducts JEE Main exam has also rescheduled the April 2020 exams. UPSC has also postponed Civil Services Personal tests.
