Kolkata: The West Bengal government on Saturday decided to defer the ongoing state Higher Secondary Examination, also called as Uccha Madhyamik exams, till April 15 in view of the coronavirus pandemic.
As a result, the Class 12 Uccha Madhyamik examinations scheduled for March 23, 25 and 27, have been cancelled.
According to the West Bengal Council for Higher Secondary Examination (WBCHSE), the examinations stand deferred till April 15.
"The new exam schedule and revsied time table would be prepared mid April", the board said.
Over nine lakh candidates are appearing for the WB Class 12 Uccha Madhyamik examinations which began on March 12. The WBCHSE Class 12th exam paper timing is 10:00 am to 1:15 pm.
Earlier, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and other states too deferred their respective board exams till April first week.
The NTA has also postponed JEE Main April 2020 exams whereas CBSE Class 12th and 10th, and ISC Class 12 and ICSE Class 10 exams too are cancelled over Coronavirus.
