New Delhi/Mumbai: India on Sunday added 03 more to its Coronavirus related deaths even as all of the 720 districts of the country are observing near-total lockdown to fight the deadly disease.
With 03 more deaths, Coronavirus death toll in India rose to 07. More than 300 people have so far been tested Coronavirus positive.
Of the 03 deaths recorded today 01 is reported from Mumbai whereas the other 02 are from Surat in Gujarat and Patna in Bihar.
Among the 04 Coronavirus deaths reported till Saturday 01 each was from Karnataka, Mumbai and New Delhi.
Maharashtra has the highest number of cases, 74, including three foreigners, followed by Kerala at 40, including seven foreign nationals. Delhi has reported 27 positive cases, which include one foreigner. Uttar Pradesh has recorded 24 cases, including one foreigner.
Telangana has reported 21 cases, including 11 foreigners who were in the state as part of Tablighi Jamaat. Rajasthan and Haryana have reported 17 cases.
On the other hand, Karnataka has reported 15 novel Coronavirus patients. Punjab and Ladakh have 13 cases each. Gujarat has seven cases while Jammu and Kashmir has four. Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Uttarakhand and West Bengal have reported three cases each. Odisha has two cases. Puducherry, Chhattisgarh and Chandigarh have reported a case each.
Meanwhile, the Indian Railways has suspended all passenger and express trains till March 31, 2020. In a rarest of rare case, Maharashtra government has also suspended the Mumbai local trains - termed as the city's lifeline.
India began a 14-hour long Janata Curfew at 07:00 am Sunday. However a number of states including Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh have extended the lockdown time. The Central government has also asked the 75 districts of India that have confirmed cases of Coronavirus to take appropriate measures to control the situation.
Maharashtra has also announced a near total lockdown in the entire state from Sunday.
