New Delhi: In a major blow to the ED case against the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), the Supreme Court of India Tuesday granted bail to Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh who was arrested by the probe agency in October last year.
A bench headed by Justice Sanjiv Khanna granted bail to Singh after the ED said it did not have any objection to granting relief to Singh.
The ED did not oppose Sanjay Singh bail application after the SC issues a clear warning to the probe agency.
"If you will oppose bail, then we have to record in our order under 45 that 'prima facie Sanjay Singh is innocent' which will have ramifications for your liquor scam case in the trial", the SC said.

The bench during the hearing also observed that no money trail has been found.
"Nothing has been recovered. There is no trace (of money allegedly received by the AAP as bribes for allotting liquor licences to the 'South Group')," the court told the agency.
The bench also comprising Justices Dipankar Datta and P B Varale however clarified that it had not said anything on the merits of the case.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) had arresred Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh in a money laundering case related to the investigation into the Delhi liquor policy on October 04, 2023.
Besides Sanjay Singh, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia, and Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain have also been arrested in the same case.
Manish Sisodia on Tuesday told a Delhi court hearing his bail petition that the Central agencies - Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and Enforcement Directorate (ED), have not been able to prove that any money has reached to him.
Senior Advocate Mohit Mathur, while appearing on behalf of Sisodia told Special Judge Kaveri Baweja, Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi, that the AAP leader was eligible for bail as, “there is no loss to the government exchequer. There is no loss to any individual. None of us who are consumers have been cheated of anything.”
