Indian racing sensation Atiqa Mir shortlisted for Iron Dames Young Talents Initiative

Srinagar: Indian racing sensation, Atiqa Mir (9), has been shortlisted for the first-ever selection process of the cult Switzerland-based all-women motorsports team Iron Dames's Young Talents initiative.

The newly launched Iron Dames's Young Talents initiative aims to identify and develop young female kart racers between the ages of eight and 13, who dream of a career in motorsport.

Atiqa, who is the fastest Indian girl on four-wheels, is the only Asian karter shortlisted for the initiative.

Atiqa is also the youngest among the 11 girls from all across the world shortlisted for the program.

The date for the first selection round has been fixed for July 29-30 in Franciacorta, Italy.

Atiqa was shortlisted based on various parameters from a long list of applicants from all over the world. Each entry was meticulously reviewed by the Iron Dames detection cell, which assessed the candidates based on their passion, determination, motorsport background, and the strength of their career aspirations.

“I’m truly honoured to be shortlisted for the Iron Dames Young Talent selection process. It motivates me further to perform and improve my skills as a driver. I will work hard and prepare myself better than ever to come out on top in the selections and make India proud," said Atiqa.

Atiqa Mir - the highest-ranked female driver under 10 years as per FIA (International Automobile Federation) and the CIK (Commission Internationale de Karting) in any national championship, took part in a competition in India in 2022, participating in two races when she was just 7 year old.

Atiqa Mir hails from Kashmir but currently lives in Dubai where she trains with George Gibbons Motorsports.
