Makkah: Former NBA star, Tacko Fall, performed Umrah, lesser Hajj, on Monday, and his video of performing Tawaf, circumambulating around Kaaba, has gone viral.
Close to 107,000 worshippers busy in Tawaf around Kaaba in Makkah on Monday were up for a pleasant surprise when they spotted the tallest among them all yet looking serene and submissive, seeking forgiveness from Allah, the Almighty.
He was Tacko Fall, one of the tallest living humans in the world at 7 feet 6 inches (2.29 metres). Fall, is the Senegalese professional basketball player, who goes by the full name El Hadji Tacko Sereigne Diop Fall.

Fall currently plays for the Piratas de Quebradillas of the Baloncesto Superior Nacional. He most recently played for the National Basketball Association (NBA) during the 2021-22 season when he was with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Adding more power to the mesmerizing scene of Fall performing Tawaf was Boston Celtics star wing, Jaylen Brown, who air dashed to Makkah and performed Umrah days after winning the National Basketball Association (NBA) Finals Most Valuable Player (MVP).
Jaylen Brown (27) had embraced Islam in 2021. After converting to Islam, he said that the faith has significantly impacted his life.
Also with Brown and Fall were some other team players who were in the Grand Mosque in Makkah to perform Umrah.
After performing Umrah, they left Makkah and travelled to Madinah al Munawwarah – the City of Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him).
Tacko Fall, Jaylen Brown and other NBA champions were among the first batch of the visitors to Holy Kaaba granted visit after the start of the post Hajj 2024 Umrah season which began on 1st Muharram 1446 AH.
Hajj, one of the five pillars of Islam, is the pilgrimage to Makkah performed once in a year that too only in the month of Dhul Hijjah. On the other hand, Umrah can be performed any time.
Furthermore, Hajj is mandatory on Muslim men and women, who are fit and have enough resources and wealth to afford expenses. Umrah is not mandatory.
