2024 Lok Sabha Election Result Live Updates: The Election Commission of India announced the final result late in the night Tuesday. According to which, the BJP led NDA alliance has won a total of 292 seats which include a total of 240 seats won by the BJP.
According to the ECI final data, the Congress led INDIA alliance has won a total of 234 seats which include 99 seats won by the Congress, 37 won by SP, 29 won by TMC and 22 won by DMK Tamil Nadu.
Others have won a total of 16 seats in the house of 543.
Key Highlights of the Counting Day
- Caretaker Prime Minister Modi who was contesting from Varanasi struggled to retain the seat. He finally won the seat but with a reduced margin. A number of time during the counting of votes Tuesday, he trailed behind his nearest rival of Congress Ajay Rai.
- Smriti Irani, one of the most arrogant leaders in the BJP, bite the dust at the hands of Kishorilal Sharma of the Congress in Amethi by more than 1.60 lakh votes.
- Rakibul Hussain of the Congress Party defeated AIUDF Chief and five-time MP Badruddin Ajmal Qasmi by more than 10 lakh votes in Dhubri. The victory margin of Rakibul Hussain in Dhubri Lok Sabha seat of Assam is the highest in India.
- In Indore, Madhya Pradesh where the BJP cajoled the Congress candidate to withdraw from the polls, saw a huge number of voters casting their votes to NOTA. As per the ECI data, NOTA ended with a total of an unprecedented 218,674 votes.
09:15 AM: The BJP led NDA alliance is leading on 266 seats whereas the Congress led INDIA alliance is ahead on 195 seats, as per the trends available at 09:15 am.
Prominent candidates who are leading are sitting Congress MP Shashitharoor from Thiruvananthapuram Kerala, PM Modi from Varanasi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah from Gandhinagar, Rahul Gandhi from Wayanad and Rae Bareli, and Smriti Irani from Amethi.
Prominent candidates who are trailing are Maneka Gandhi from Sultanpur, Danish Ali from Amroha, LS Speaker Om Prakash Birla and Supriya Sule from Baramati, Kanhaya Kumar from Delhi, and Digvijay Singh in Madhya Pradesh.
08:30 AM: Counting of votes to decide the fate of over 8,000 candidates who are contesting the 2024 Parliament Election across India has begun amid tight security.
As per early trends at 08:30 am, the BJP led NDA alliance is leading in 190 seats whereas the Congress led INDIA alliance is ahead on 105 seats.
05:00 AM:2024 Lok Sabha Election - All eyes on vote count, result
The Counting of votes for all 541 seats which went to poll in 07 phases of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, also known as Parliamentary Elections or General Elections, will start at 08:00 am Tuesday June 04, the Election Commission of India said.
Earlier, counting of Electronically Transmitted Postal Ballot System (ETPBS) and Postal Ballots used to be taken up first. Later on votes stored in Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) were counted.
But for the 2024 elections, the Election Commission has ordered simultaneous counting of Postal Ballots and EVMs.
The counting of Postal Ballots this election is also likely to take more time as number of postal votes are more because of the initiative to cast votes of over 80 years of age at their homes.
After counting of the votes, the counting personnel will then randomly select five EVMs from each Assembly segments for matching with VVPAT slips as directed by the Supreme Court.
The final election results are likely to be declared by late in the evening Tuesday or early morning Wednesday. The trends however will start coming by 08:30 to 08:45 am today.
The 2024 Lok Sabha elections spanned seven phases: April 19, April 26, May 7, May 13, May 20, May 25, and June 1. Twenty states including Delhi voted in a single-phase.
The process for the 2024 Parliamentary election, also known as Lok Sabha Chunav, started with the first Phase of polling on April 19, 2024. Polling for the 7th and last phase of the 2024 general elections was held on June 01, 2024.
Maharashtra and Jammu and Kashmir polled in 5 phases, while Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and West Bengal voted in all seven phases of voting. Polling in Karnataka, Rajasthan, Tripura, and Manipur were held in two phases. Chhattisgarh and Assam saw 3 phases of voting, and Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, and Jharkhand had 4 phases of polling.
Lok Sabha, the lower house of Indian Parliament has a total of 545 members. Of them 543 are elected while 02 members are nominated by the President of India. Polling for the 2024 elections was held for 541 seats as the BJP candidate in Surat, Gujarat won unopposed.
