Purnia LS Election Result 2024 Live: Pappu Yadav won the Purnia Lok Sabha seat by 23,847 votes, according to the Election Commission of India final result released Tuesday.

According to the ECI final result data, Pappu Yadav polled 567,556 votes and defeated his nearest rival Santosh Kumar of JD(U).

Bima Bharti of the RJD ended 3rd with just 27,120 votes. RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav was openly appealing his party cadre to vote against Pappu Yadav.

15:10 PM: Pappu Yadav, the Congress leader who is contesting from Purnia seat as independent, is leading as per the latest update.

The ECI data at 15:10 PM showed, Pappu Yadav has polled a total of 334,079 votes whereas Santosh Kumar got 333,125 votes and trailing by some 925 votes.

The counting here is still underway and the final result will be declared soon.

12:10 PM: Pappu Yadav, who was leading in the early rounds of counting is now trailing in Purnia Lok Sabha seat, as per the latest update.

According to the trends at 12:10 PM, Pappu Yadav is trailing behind Santosh Kumar of the Janata Dal (United) by 3,995 votes.

08:30 AM: Counting of votes to decide the fate of Pappu Yadav and other candidates contesting from the Purnia Lok Sabha seat in Bihar is underway.

As per the trends available at 08:30 am, Pappu Yadav, who is contesting as Independent is leading.

Pappu Yadav has joined the Congress before the 2024 General Elections. After he was denied the party ticket from the Purnia seat because of the opposition by the RJD, he decided to contest as Independent.

05:00 AM: 2024 Lok Sabha Election - All eyes on vote count, result

The Counting of votes for all 541 seats which went to poll in 07 phases of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, also known as Parliamentary Elections or General Elections, will start at 08:00 am Tuesday June 04, the Election Commission of India said.

Earlier, counting of Electronically Transmitted Postal Ballot System (ETPBS) and Postal Ballots used to be taken up first. Later on votes stored in Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) were counted.

But for the 2024 elections, the Election Commission has ordered simultaneous counting of Postal Ballots and EVMs.

The counting of Postal Ballots this election is also likely to take more time as number of postal votes are more because of the initiative to cast votes of over 80 years of age at their homes.

After counting of the votes, the counting personnel will then randomly select five EVMs from each Assembly segments for matching with VVPAT slips as directed by the Supreme Court.

The final election results are likely to be declared by late in the evening Tuesday or early morning Wednesday. The trends however will start coming by 08:30 to 08:45 am today.

The 2024 Lok Sabha elections spanned seven phases: April 19, April 26, May 7, May 13, May 20, May 25, and June 1. Twenty states including Delhi voted in a single-phase.

The process for the 2024 Parliamentary election, also known as Lok Sabha Chunav, started with the first Phase of polling on April 19, 2024. Polling for the 7th and last phase of the 2024 general elections was held on June 01, 2024.

Maharashtra and Jammu and Kashmir polled in 5 phases, while Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and West Bengal voted in all seven phases of voting. Polling in Karnataka, Rajasthan, Tripura, and Manipur were held in two phases. Chhattisgarh and Assam saw 3 phases of voting, and Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, and Jharkhand had 4 phases of polling.

Lok Sabha, the lower house of Indian Parliament has a total of 545 members. Of them 543 are elected while 02 members are nominated by the President of India. Polling for the 2024 elections was held for 541 seats as the BJP candidate in Surat, Gujarat won unopposed.
