Watch: Grand Mosque Friday Sermon was befitting of Makkah Joint Defence Deal
The Friday Sermon delivered by Imam and Khateeb of the Makkah Grand Mosque Sheikh Faisal bin Jameel Ghazzawi before the formal signing of the Makkah Joint Defence Deal between the three countries was prepared keeping in mind the significance of the occasion
Makkah al Mukarramah: The significance of the Joint Defence Deal signed between Saudi Arabia, Turkiye and Pakistan Friday August 07, 2028 can further be gauged from the fact that every big and small detail was meticulously planned, checked, and executed to fit the occasion.
Deals and agreements between Saudi Arabia and other countries, as a normal practice, used to be signed in Riyadh – the Capital of the Kingdom.
However, instead of Riyadh, the place chosen for the Joint Defence Pact, described by some as Islamic NATO, was Makkah al Mukarramah – the holiest place for Muslims around the world.
Not only this, the signing ceremony was held inside Masjid al Haram – the Grand Mosque in Makkah, which hosts the Holy Kaaba.
If this was not all, the Friday Sermon delivered by Imam and Khateeb of the Makkah Grand Mosque Sheikh Faisal bin Jameel Ghazzawi before the formal signing of the joint defence deal between the three countries was prepared keeping in mind the significance of the occasion.
As a matter of fact, the whole Friday Sermon was full of the quotations from the Holy Quran and Hadith of Prophet Mohammad (Peace be upon him) to highlight the importance of unity, brotherhood and solidarity among Muslims.
The most important of all perhaps was the reference of the following famous Hadith of Prophet Mohammad (Peace be upon him) as Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif listened:
عَنِ النُّعْمَانِ بْنِ بَشِيرٍ رضي الله عنه قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ
«مَثَلُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ فِي تَوَادِّهِمْ وَتَرَاحُمِهِمْ وَتَعَاطُفِهِمْ مَثَلُ الْجَسَدِ، إِذَا اشْتَكَى مِنْهُ عُضْوٌ تَدَاعَى لَهُ سَائِرُ الْجَسَدِ بِالسَّهَرِ وَالْحُمَّى».
An-Nu‘mān ibn Bashīr (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The believers, in their mutual love, compassion, and sympathy, are like a single body; if one of its organs suffers, the whole body will respond with sleeplessness and fever."
The above Hadith falls under the category of “agreed upon ahadith”. Agreed upon ahadith are those reported by Sahīh Bukhari and Sahih Muslim both, and are termed as the most authentic.

The Imam and Khateeb of Masjid al Haram in Makkah futher said, "Solidarity among Muslims is not merely a matter of perfection or something optional... Rather, it is one of the foundations of the life of faith. Through it, blessings endure and afflictions are warded off."
"One of the requirements of brotherhood for the sake of Allah is that the members of the Ummah support one another and cooperate with each other, acting upon the words of Allah Almighty: 'And cooperate in righteousness and piety', " he asserted.
"Brotherhood for the sake of Allah is not merely a slogan; it is a firm bond of faith that transcends blood, language, colour, lineage and ancestry, and it is a foundation upon which a cohesive Muslim society is built. The strength of the Islamic Ummah lies in its unity and cohesion, while its weakness comes from division. Therefore, it must strive for mutual support, solidarity and unity", the Imam added.
