New Delhi: Outrage and demand to file FIR against Delhi Police Personnel involved in the brutal beating of Muslim female journalists, Shaheen Khan and Nafeesa Khan associated with 4 PM News Network, have been growing with every passing second.
Shaheen Khan and Nafeesa Khan have said they were brutally beaten by Delhi Police Personnel Thursday September 03, 2026 after they asked some questions while covering an event attended by Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta.
Soon after the incident, Shaheen Khan came live on camera and described in details how Delhi Police Personnel abused, slapped in face and beat the two journalists inside the Saket Police Station of Delhi Thursday.
The Press Club of India, Indian Women’s Press Corps, Delhi Union of Journalists, Press Association, and Kerala Union of Working Journalist were first to condemn the incident, calling for punitive action against Delhi Police officials posted at the Saket Police Station.
Soon the Congress Party too joined the chorus demanding action against the Delhi Police Personnel allegedly involved in the incident.
According to 4 PM News Network, they have received supports and solidarity messages from journalists’ associations, activist groups, and press freedom and rights organizations of as many as 40 countries.

“Deadline to file FIR Sunday”
4 PM News Network said it has given the Delhi Police a time till Sunday September 06, 2026 to file FIR and take action against its officials and personnel involved in the incident.
“We have given the Delhi Police the time till Sunday September 06, 2026 to file FIR against those involved in the incident. We will go to the court if our demands are not met till Sunday”, Sanjay Sharma, Editor In-Chief and Founder of 4 PM News Network, said while addressing a press conference.
Sanjay Singh said Shaheen and Nafeesa can identify the Delhi Police officials and personnel by their name and face. "Yet we did not get the copy of the FIR despite sitting on dharna till 03:00 AM Friday", he said.
The network’s ultimatum came after hundreds of journalists and activists along with the relatives of Shaheen Khan and Nafeesa Khan sat in protest demanding the FIR against the Delhi Police Officials till late in the night Thursday. They however did not get the FIR copy.
Delhi Police in Denial Mode
In an official statement, DCP (South) Anant Mittal described the allegations as “factually incorrect and misleading”.
He said the “two women had obstructed the designated VVIP route by parking their scooty near the venue”, and had “refused to comply” with “repeated requests and instructions to remove the vehicle and clear the route”.
The statement said the women were “taken to the local police station for further enquiry”, but “allegations of assault for asking questions to the Hon’ble Chief Minister are totally false, misleading and baseless”.
Commenting on Delhi Police statement, 4PM News Editor Sanjay Sharma demanded from the Delhi Police to release the CCTV video footages.
"As per the SC guidelines, every room in a Police Station should have CCTV camera installed. If Delhi Police claims what Shaheen Khan and Nafeesa Khan are saying is incorrect, it should release the CCTV video footage", he said.
Addressing the Press Conference, Sanjay Sharma also demanded suspension of the officials involved in the brutal incident.
