Malegaon:
A film on the life of legendary Bollywood singer
Mohammad Rafi will be screened in the Capital tomorrow on the eve of
his birth anniversary.
''Tum
Yaad Aaye'', the documentary produced by the Films Division, will be
screened at the Films Division Auditorium.
A
seminar on the songs and different aspects of the singer's life will
also be organised on the occasion in which the wife of yesteryears'
filmmaker Husnalal, Nirmala Husnalal, former Director of Doordarshan
Sharad Dutt, music expert Mukesh Garg, singer Priyamvada Vashisht
and several music and film experts will participate.
The
film, directed by the chief filmmaker in the Films Division Kuldip
Sinha, was also screened at last month's International Film Festival
of India in Goa.
A
book on the life of yesteryears' Bollywood beauty and Rafi's
contemporary Madhubala will also be released on the occasion.
Mohd Rafi the well known Indian singer
changed the trend after he began singing in the local film industry.
He was a master in singing in a voice matching the character in the
films. He was instrumental in converting many 'no-bodys' into 'bollywood
heroes'.
Mohd. Rafi sang for almost every actor
in the film industry during his time. He has the distinction of
singing even for Kishore Kumar - an actor-singing himself who was
known for his typical acting and songs.
Regarded as melody king, Mohd. Rafi's
songs specially those sang for heroes like Dileep Kumar, Dev Anand,
Shammi Kapoor, Rajesh Khanna and other bollywood superstars are hit
even today.
Mohd Rafi even recorded few songs in
Marathi. The first song sang by him in Marathi was by Maharashtra
Navnirman Sena (MNS) president Raj Thackeray's father.
Interestingly, since Mohd Rafi was not
converse with the Marathi script, Raj Thackeray's father who
incidentally was knowing Urdu, wrote the Marathi song using Urdu
script for Mohd. Rafi. The song is a hit even today.
