Prof. Mohd. Miyan new Vice-Chancellor of MANUU

Hyderabad: Prof. Mohammad Miyan has been appointed as the new Vice-Chancellor of Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU), Hyderabad.

 

He will be the 3rd Vice-Chancellor of the University and will assume his new responsibility tomorrow i.e., 14th May 2010.

 

President of India Shrimati Pratibha Devi Singh Patil in her capacity as the visitor of MANUU, has given approval to this effect, Prof. S.M. Rahmatullah Registrar I/c announced today while citing the appointment order received from the Ministry of Human Resource Development.

 

Prof. Mohd. Miyan is currently working as Director Centre for Professional Development of Urdu Teachers and Honorary Director, Arjun Singh Centre for Distance and Open Learning, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi. He will succeed Prof. A.M. Pathan.

 

Professor Mohammed Shamim Jairajpuri was the Ist Vice-Chancellor of MANUU.

 

Urdu University was established by an Act of Parliament in 1998. It was Accredited “A” Grade by NAAC last year. Prof. Mohd. Miyan completed his graduation from Aligarh Muslim University in 1968 followed by M.Sc. in 1970 in the same University.

 

He did his M. Ed. in 1973 at Jamia Millia Islamia and completed his Ph. D. in 1982 at Jamia Millia. He started his carrier as lecturer in August 1973 from the same University. He also worked as lecturer at NCERT and Under Secretary UPSC for brief periods. He became Professor at Jamia Millia in Sept. 2002.

 

He specializes in Distance Education, Elementary Education and Educational Administration. Prof. Mohd. Miyan has participated and presented many papers in national & international conferences and seminars.

 

His papers have also been published in reputed refereed Journals. 26 Doctoral thesis have been completed under his guidance.

 

His contribution to various surveys and books on the subject of Education is immense. He edited the Urdu translation of the discussion document on curriculum frame work for teacher education (NCTE).

 

His reviews on different books written on the subject of Education have been published prominently in various journals.

 

He had been the Director, Centre for Professional Development of Urdu Teachers, Jamia Millia, New Delhi. Prof. Khalid Saeed I/c Vice-Chancellor and Prof. S.M. Rahmatullah Registrar I/c have extended greetings to Prof. Mohd. Miyan on his new assignment.
