Moscow: A
passenger who tried to hijack an airplane en route from Tehran to
Damascus Saturday was detained in-flight by the airline's security
guards, a media report said.
The man armed with a "cold weapon" claimed he had placed bombs on
the aircraft and had hijacked the plane.
The Iranian Fars news agency, however, did not specify the type of
weapon the man had. The aircraft was carrying among other
passengers a group of Iranian parliament members to Damascus,
Syria.
Upon arrival in Damascus, the man was arrested. There was no
report of injuries and no bombs were found on board.
