Astana: Kazakh scientists have discovered a new mineral and named it in
honour of Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev, the government
said Thursday.
The new mineral was named Nurnazen -- an acronym of the name and
surname of Nursultan Nazarbayev, said the ministry of education
and science.
Scientists dedicated a new mineral from the hydrocarbon clusters
to the 20th anniversary of independence and called it Nurnazen, it
said.
The new mineral has promising scientific and practical uses for
medical and chemical technology.
Nazarbayev has been in office since 1989 and was granted the
official title of "leader of the nation" by parliament last year.
