Mumbai:
A woman's body was found stuffed inside a suitcase near Mumbai's
Juhu Beach Thursday, police said.
The body of the woman, believed to be around 30 years old, was
found with cuts and bruises on her face. Her hands and legs had
been tied together. A cloth was used to veil her face and she was
dressed in a shirt and a skirt, a police official said.
"We have sent the body for post-mortem. We are trying to identify
the woman. But it is difficult as her face is swollen," Deputy
Commissioner of Police M.M. Prasanna told reporters.
The suitcase was found by a local resident early Thursday near an
isolated part of the beach, inhibited mostly by fishermen.
The police is planning to check the missing persons report to get
a clue, an official said. The police, however, believe she was
killed in the last 24 hours.
