with the SDM calling on the people of Malegaon living all across the
globe to pen their vision about a new and ideal Malegaon. The
competion is open to all and the essays, articles and papers can be

June 15: Malegaon Daud
- A marathon race participated by everyone to promote peace and
harmony. It will be held at 09:00 AM on June 15.

Cycle Rally - A rally participated by everyone to promote
peace and harmony.

Urdu/Hindi/Marathi Mushaira - It will be held at Upkaar
Theatre on June 18 from 09:00 PM onwards.

19:
Chess Competition - Malegaon has some of the best Chess
players in the region. This competition is first of its kind in
Malegaon.
June 21 :
Patriotic songs - Inter Hish School patriotic songs
competition will be held at YN Jadhav High School on June 21 from
04:00 PM onwards.
June 23:
Bait Baazi - Inter High School Bait Baazi
competition will be held at Dr Manzoor Hasan Ayyubi hall on June 23 from morning
09:00 onwards.

Drama Competition - It will be held in the evening at Dr Zaini
Bashir Shaikh Hall.

Malegaon:
In an attempt to involve the civil society to promote peace and
harmony, and in building a new and better Malegaon, Nasik district
Collector P Velrasu has decided to host a week-long festival in
the town. The program titled as ‘Malegaon of My Dreams’ includes
competitions based on different cultural programs and a Vision
Conference.
The festival begins May 01 with P. Velrasu giving a
call to the civil society to pen their vision about a new and
ideal Malegaon.
"Besides having inter-school and open competitions scheduled on
different dates in the coming weeks, the week -long Malegaon
Festival includes an Essay Competition. Through this Essay
Competition, we are inviting essays, papers and articles from
people living in Malegaon and abroad so as to have their views
about a new, better and an ideal Malegaon", District Collector P.
Velrasu said to ummid.com.
"This Essay Competition is open to all and anyone, whether he or
she belongs to Malegaon or not, are free to participate and write
their ideas about an ideal city", he said.
The competition is divided in two parts, one for the
students up to 25 yrs of age and the other for the people above
25. While the word limit for the students is 2000 words, the limit
for the people above 25 is 5000 words.
"The best three articles, papers and essays in both the groups
will be given special prizes whereas selected articles, papers and
essays will be published in a book form", he added.
The essays, papers and articles can be written in English, Hindi,
Urdu and Marathi and should be submitted by hand or by post at SDM
Office, Malegaon or at Citizens for Development & Peace (CDP)
office at 172, Darul Amaan, near Haji Manzil, Fort, Malegaon on or
before June 20, 2011. The entries can also be sent by e-mail at malegaonofmydreams@gmail.com.
Along with the Essay Competition, the festival, which is
coordinated by SDM Malegaon Ajay More and Convener Citizens for Development
& Peace (CDP) Aleem Faizee, also has Malegaon Run (June 15),
Cycle Rally (June 16), Chess Competition (June 19), Inter High
School Patriotic Songs competition (June 21), Kavi Sammelan (June
18), Inter High School
Bait Baazi competition (June 23) and a drama competition (June 25).
Moreover, the festival will also
have a photo-contest and a best-published article competition. The
best three entries from the photos and articles published in last
sixty years will be judged and given prizes.
The festival is followed by a Vision Conference which will be
participated by Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) team from
Mumbai and the experts having experience in town planning and
socio-economic, educational and industrial development.
Before the Vision Conference, the TISS team and experts will stay
in Malegaon for a week, and personally inspect and discuss the
issues facing the people. The TISS team will then prepare a Vision
Document for Malegaon.
