Hamid Ansari asks Muslims to open up to modern education

Bangalore: Vice-President M Hamid Ansari today said Muslims need to embrace modern education to keep in tune with the changing times in addition to pursuing religious studies.

Addressing the graduation day and valedictory of the golden jubilee celebrations of 'Darul Uloom Sabeelur Rashad', a premier Arabic college here, he said that Bangalore is known all over the world for its progress in the field of knowledge.

"The world needs this knowledge, we (Muslims) also need it," Ansari said, adding that one never knows the kind of changes that one would face in the next 50 years.

"World is changing rapidly. If we want to be in this world, if we want to be successful, the pace of our change should be in tune with the rest of the world," the Vice- President said. "Everybody has to understand this, we have to understand this
